Brock, Michael, guys...

Hey guys...I know there's a men's board round here somewhere that I'm scared to even look for...so I got a question for you here... How would I approach my husband about WLS?...He would be considered a lightweight (needs to lose about 80lbs.) I want to suggest it to him without nagging or hurting his feelings...How do I do that?! I love him more than life itself, I would take a bullet for this man, he is my best friend, he is so sexy no matter what and there is nothing I wouldn't do for him...I'm just so so terrified that I might lose him...I just last week found out that there are serious health issues that run on both sides of his family...so I'm scared that his extra weight may be a time-bomb...his father is half a world away dying from his health problems and his mother just got diagnosed with some serious **** too... Did the woman you love ever discuss these concerns with you before you decided to have surgery? Were you hurt or angry? Are there men here on OH that had their wife or lover bring the idea of seeking surgery up to them? Am I crazy for even thinking about talking about this to him? I've never ever felt like there was anything I couldn't say to him...I just really don't know where to begin with this... you can PM me if it's too personal! Thanks! xxxBecca

I would be interested in hearing this too.  My husband isn't a candidate but he could stand to lose 40lbs or so.  It scares me because it's ALL in his stomach which is the WORST place to carry it.  He eats nothing but fast food and "boxed" food (mac and cheese, hamburger helper, pizza, burritos, etc).  Oh, and BEER.  The point is, I know he has to make the decision himself.  he used to be a track runner in high school and always says he's going to start again but never does.  He won't go to the gym with me and he's super picky about what he'll eat. I just want him to be healthy with me but I don't want to nag him or make him feel inadequate or anything by talking about it.

I don't really know the advice I should give you.  I just decided that I was sick of being on diets, and just wanted the extra weight gone. If he is 80 pounds overweight, he knows he is overweght and wouldn;t be offended if you talk to him about it. I;d mention all the health problems that stem from obesity.  And all the benefits of WLS. I doubt you will offend him.  It takes a lot to hurt the feelings of us guys!

lol..thank you Brock...I got several PMs along those lines... I was thinking of it in terms of how I would feel if someone brought my weight up like that...almost every reply said the same thing..."girls worry too much" and "it takes a lot more to really hurt a guy"...lol maybe if I punched him in the kidney and nagged him to finish his veggie-platter..lol thank you so much for getting back to me! xxxBecca

Please, I beg you, don't worry about HURTING HIS FEELINGS.  If you see a way to help with his problem, and obesity is deadly, please tell him!

Good plan. One more thing.  Don't bring it up during a naked party.  That is the one time you can hurt a guys feelings!
